This year the company challenged itself to elevate its creative expression and introduce its latest innovation - the new ecobee SmartThermostat with voice control. We were approached to help ecobee enhance their visual communication and create a film to convey ecobee?s mission to make it easy and affordable for homeowners to reduce their environmental footprint while enhancing the way they experience comfort.

We were really excited to work with one of our favourite podcasts, On Being. A wide open brief gave us lots of room to play, so we explored different ways of combining 3D and 2D techniques. After a lot of testing, we eventually arrived at a kind of trippy hybrid which we used to create a piece inspired by the wise words of the late John O'Donohue.

Awaken Akira was created by two friends, Ash Thorp and Zaoeyo (XiaoLin Zeng), who wanted to collaborate on a tribute to the iconic anime, Akira, by Katsuhiro Otomo. It’s creation took over a year, as we had to coordinate our time on it with other project commitments. We hope you find it was well worth the wait and truly enjoy our efforts.
